Culture Minds About Kate Liddle

Colin Middlemiss

Colin Middlemiss is a communications, culture and engagement specialist with more than twenty years’ experience helping organisations navigate complexity and change.

He brings a rare blend of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, supporting leaders to shape clear narratives and turn them into plans, experiences and communications that truly land with people.

Colin has worked across technology, retail, water, rail, energy and consultancy, learning to operate with confidence in high-pressure environments and engage colleagues who are often hard to reach.

His work spans major rebrands, restructures, cultural programmes, pay and pension changes, leadership transitions and crisis communications.

Career highlights include designing the post-lockdown re-induction at BAE Systems, shifting relationships from fear to openness, and leading a three-day, 4,000-person management and supplier conference that helped reset direction for a major retail business.

Known for his constructive challenge and ability to ask the questions that sharpen thinking, Colin helps teams move from intention to action. His philosophy is simple: supportive challenge, always grounded in ‘why’ and ‘how will you show you’re serious?’

Motivated by progress, whether in culture, confidence or clarity, Colin values the strong sense of team at Culture Minds and the collective passion for meaningful work.

Outside of work, he’s a keen traveller, dedicated sourdough baker, and long-time lover of Italian food and culture.

Fun fact: in the 1990s, his hands were once used as models to make Nokia mobile phones look small.
